Sungai Kim Kim incident opens public's eyes to importance of environmental cleanliness

For the first time in the country’s history, an irresponsible act has not only harmed the environment but also jeopardized the well-being of people, affecting the health and income of Pasir Gudang community.

Even education was not spared, as a total of 111 schools had to be shut down after students suffered a spate of nausea, vomiting, breathlessness, and dizziness - a condition dubbed as the ‘Kim Kim Symptom’ - believed to be due to inhaling the toxic fumes.
The dumping of chemical substances on March 7 caused 5,848 people to seek medical treatment after inhaling toxic fumes from the river.

More than 70 people including many students have sought treatment after being exposed to toxic fumes, according to The Star newspaper. The symptoms included breathing difficulty and vomiting.

The incident opened the eyes of all parties, especially about the pollution at the river, which had been taking place for almost a decade, without retribution.

On 11 March, the second wave of air poisoning took effect with further 106–207 victims been hospitalised before escalating into more than 1,000 victims with eight admitted into the ICU.  The spread of the toxic fumes is aid by hot weather combined with the strong wind that makes more people sick.

Johor's Sultan Ibrahim Ismail urged for immediate action taken against the perpetrators involved in the pollution of the environment that endangering public lives while expressing his appreciation for the medical teams which had been working tirelessly to treat affected victims in hospital. The Sultan has pledged a total of RM1 million towards helping rescue agencies and authorities gather the necessary means and equipment to resolve the matter as well expressing his view that the incident shows the need for a government hospital to be built in Pasir Gudang.

Johor's Sultan, the government and the non-government were taken action to ensure everyone is safe. this show that we Malaysia is helping each other and will work together to ensure our country stay harmony.

The person who did this is so irresponsible. can you imagine just because of them, the schools had to be shut down and students suffered! this is incident is long term case and become our history.

Through investigation, a lorry tanker is believed to have dumped chemical waste into Kim Kim River in the early morning before the victims fell ill. Agencies dispatched for the cleaning-up operation of the polluted river collected 2.43 tonnes of chemical waste on the day the incident was reported.

On 17 March, further nine people were arrested by police in connection to the case; two arrested in Johor Bahru while seven were arrested outside Johor Bahru area. Two key suspects who are believed to be instrumental in arranging for the transportation of the toxic substances were arrested on 19 March, bringing the total to 11 with one suspect later released under bail after he is proven not related to the case. The cleaning operation of the 1.5 kilometre stretch of the affected river was completed on the same day with a total of 900 tonnes of soil and 1,500 tonnes of polluted water were cleaned.

News about the pollution of Kim Kim river in Pasir Gudang, Johor has shocked the nation after thousands of people fell sick due to the illegal dumping of chemicals. To prevent other people from getting sick as well, clean-up efforts on the chemical dumping have been going on for days as these unsung heroes tirelessly work for 24 hours a day to ensure that the river is safe again.

This incident actually should not happen. We as a Malaysian and live in this world, we should appreciate our nature. Other countries face many challenges while we in Malaysia we stay harmony and can go to the office and school every day. we should together ensure our environment clean! Sungai Kim Kim is one of the cases that we need to see the impact. They can't go to school and office and can't do their daily activity. There are many ways we can do to ensure our environment clean and this incident should not happen.

How can we keep the environment clean?

1. Plant more trees as carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, is readily absorbed by trees and plants.
2. Since vehicles are a major contributor to toxic gas emissions and smog, walk or bike whenever possible. Use public transport or a park-and-ride facility if convenient. Make use of community carpools to minimize the number of vehicles on the road.
3. Avoid disposing of hazardous materials in normal household trash.
4. Use canvas bags that can be re-used for shopping instead of paper or disposable plastic bags. This will minimize the amount of waste that goes to landfills.
5. Use organic alternatives to garden and lawn chemicals when possible. Avoid the use of garden chemicals before a storm to prevent stormwater pollution.
6. Use non-toxic or biodegradable soap, free of phosphates, to wash the car. Wash the car in a gravel driveway or over the lawn. Soap and grime will be neutralized in the ground before it can pollute streams and creeks. Better yet, make use of a commercial car wash where water is recycled.

I hope we can try our best to ensure our environment clean.

let's together ensure our environment clean!

Kampung Baru! What Happened?

The background

Originally, the residents were from Jalan Perkins, Kuala Lumpur, and had been there since the 1930s, or as said by the descendants, before the Japanese Occupation of Malaya. In 1951, a council to govern Pasar Minggu and Kampung Baru were established. The government decided to develop the area and moved the residents to Jalan Raja Muda Musa, Kg Baru, Kuala Lumpur.

They were resettled by the state government to the present area in 1965 in return for the cooperation of the residents for the modernization of Kuala Lumpur. Even Tengku Abdul Rahman dropped by to officiate the resettled area, and at the time Pasar Minggu was developed for $550000.

Later, in 1974, ownership of the land suddenly shifted from the state government, who were supposed to hold it as in accordance to the rules of the Council of Malay Agricultural Settlement, to PKNS, who applied successfully and paid RM RM97471 for a total area of 6.94 acres. PKNS then sold part of the land, a total of 156,207 sq ft to Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur for RM3,120,645.00, or an equivalent of RM20 sq ft in 1992.

The issue
So just recently, the government is reportedly studying on ways to purchase about 250 acres of land in Kampung Baru. According to, Federal Territories Minister, Khalid Samad, the govt is doing so to ensure a structured development in Kampung Baru. Now if this seems familiar, don't worry you’re not hallucinating.
The government claimed that the majority of the resident kampung Baru are agreed to sell. Is that true? But there are numbers of people do not agree to sell.

However, this issue is still ongoing and do not end yet. The government give the best final offer for Kampung Baru landowner. The government's final and best offer to acquire Kampung Baru land is RM1000 per sq feet, out of which RM 150 per square feet will be in the form of shares.

Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said the landowners will be offered a package of RM 850 per sq feet in the compensation option they want, and the remaining RM 150 will be in the form of shares in the special purpose vehicle (SPV) of the development project to be set up in the future.

This issue is very complicated and does not have the solution and answer yet. the price offered by the government is high but the owners still refuse to sell.

What I can conclude the owners are too demanding and the government had tried their best to give the best price. I do understand the location of the land is very strategy and there are a few factors that why they do not want to sell. I hope that the government will do their best to make our beloved country, Malaysia better.

What is the final answer for this unanswerable issue?
let's wait and see what will happen.

What is wrong with plastic straw? Can we drink without it?

can we drink without plastic straw?

did we ever realise the environmental impact of plastic straw?

Plastic straws are almost always used only once before being disposed of. Plastic straws are single-use, lightweight, and made from Polypropylene, a material which isn’t easily recycled and degrades slowly. As a result, the negative environmental impact of plastic straws is disproportionate compared to volume. I want to encourage people to take actions preventing further harm on the environment from single-use plastics. You can take a small step every time you enjoy a meal out.

Every year we go through a stagger 25.3 billion plastic straws in Europe. In the US it is said that we use 500 million plastic straws a day
Where does all this plastic go?

What is the effect of plastic straw to the ocean?
it’s pretty hard for many species of marine life to swallow a straw. It does, however, happen sometimes especially with the small straws on cardboard drinks containers. Larger plastics tend to disproportionately affect Sea Turtles and Seabirds. Because these animals do in fact mistake these items for food.

Turtles, seabirds and fish who have consumed plastic can die of starvation. These undeserving creatures think that their stomachs are full and fail, through no fault of their own. to eat the food they actually need. Aside from killing these creatures with our plastic mess, we’re polluting a vital part of our own food chain.

What we can do for our environment?

  • say no to straw to reduce the impact
  • replace plastic straw with metal straw or carbon straw
There many other ways to save our ocean. a small step will give a better impact.

Let's save our environment!

Sisters in Islam is a deviant group stands

Have you ever heard about Sister In Islam (SIS)?

Sister in Islam is a group of woman that fight for woman's justice. SIS is a civil society organisation committed to promoting the rights of women within the frameworks of Islam and universal human rights.

Well actually they are a deviant group stands

They claimed that they are following the Quran and Hadith but it is proven that they are not following the Quran and the hadith. they created this group and influenced the woman about woman's right and the liberalism.

they used a certain sensitive issue to make many Islam women believe them. one of the issues they used is about polygamy. they claimed that man doesn't have any right to marry more than one wife. as we know in hadith our prophet Nabi Muhammad SAW is marrying more than one wife. this is proven that they are not right.

other than that, unbelievable that they claimed that woman can be an 'imam' or leader for our prayer. this picture is proof that they deviate from the real Islam.

MAIS declaration that Sisters in Islam is 'deviant'.
In a suit filed by Sisters in Islam (SIS) against an Islamic fatwa (ruling or edict) labelling the organisation as "deviant", the High Court will examine whether civil courts have the power to rule over what seems to be a religious matter.
The case began in 2014, when it declared that any individual or groups which adopted the ideologies of "liberalism" and "pluralism", including SIS, were Islamic "deviants", as decided by the Selangor Fatwa Committee and Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Majlis Agama Islam Selangor or MAIS).

Sisters in Islam (SIS) is very dangerous and influenceable. I hope with this article people will realise that they deviate from the truth of Islam. May Allah protect and lead us to the right path.
